Meridian Interns Program (MIP) is now in its seventeenth year. The program, serving at risk youth from all counties of San Francisco, was founded in 1996. The annual Coffee House has been an integral celebration of the program from its inception. For this event, the youth invite their family and friends to the gallery to share the year’s artistic inquiries and accomplishment.
This year, the MIP Coffee House is excited to feature woodcuts. Each unique print is created by the youth who hand carve and then print the works in a vintage press, located onsite at the MIP studio. A dance component will also be included. In addition to work that has been created by the current youth, there will be a presentation in video and voice by some of the former Interns who recently renovated the damaged city mural, Tenderhart, in the Tenderloin.
Coffee, tea, cookies and cake will be served to celebrate! The public is welcome. Donations by Peet’s Coffee and House of Bagels are greatly appreciated.
